Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis show the substance was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking official stated the incident rendered him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
